Feature of Note 2024 Giving Tuesday: Celebrating Grainger's Legacy
|
|
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown into a world-wide movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
When is Giving Tuesday? Giving Tuesday is always the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, it is Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
How Can You Make a Difference? Each year, the Percy Grainger Society joins in the global Giving Tuesday movement designed to keep the spirit of giving alive during the holiday season. This year, we are asking for your support to help celebrate the legacy of Percy Grainger! Your contributions allow the Percy Grainger Society to provide services, take risks, and complete programs not otherwise possible.
What is the Impact of Your Support on the Percy Grainger Society's Mission?
Your contribution, no matter the size, will help the Society continue to support membership programming and activities, publish and distribute The Grainger Journal, bring history to life for visitors (virtual and in-person), create public programs in the arts and humanities, support ongoing repair and restoration of the Percy Grainger Home and Studio, and contribute to our efforts to care for and document the collection.
Once again, we have a match to multiply the impact of your gift. Every contribution received between November 1, 2024 and January 31, 2025 is matched, doubling your gift (up to $7,500). Follow this link to learn more about the programs and projects that have been successfully implemented through generous support of our mission. We thank you for being a part of the Grainger legacy and hope you will join us this Giving Tuesday!

At the Home & StudioGLOSS Program Update
|
|
As the Percy Grainger Society continues to celebrate the enduring impact of Percy Grainger on music and culture, we are excited to share the 2024 developments in the Grainger Library of Sampled Sounds (GLOSS) program. This innovative initiative, designed to create an accessible and engaging online resource for neurodivergent musicians, particularly those on the autism spectrum, has made significant strides since its beginning in 2020.
The GLOSS program was initiated several years ago with the objective of developing a rich repository of sound recordings from the Percy Grainger Home & Studio at 7 Cromwell Place in White Plains, New York. By focusing on neurodivergent composers, sound artists, and musicians, GLOSS aims to provide tailored resources that accommodate their unique cognitive profiles and creative needs. Read more here.
