Percy Grainger America

The Steinway Grand Piano, Model A, Ebony, 6' in length, with an approximate net weight of 695 lbs, has gone out for repair.  We are grateful to the very careful piano movers who worked really hard getting it out the front door and down the stairs. It is expected home April 30, completely restored with new casters and the case repaired.

(L) Percy and Rose play the piano at 7 Cromwell Place, circa 1921.

  • Brigitte Sims begins to dismantle the piano for its trip to the repair shop.
  • Legs removed, covered, ready for the trip down the stairs.
  • Keyboard is out, waiting for transport.
  • Almost down the front stairs. It takes a village!
  • Resting at the bottom of the second set of stairs.
  • Safely into the back of the truck. Yay for lifts!
